Dora was born and raised in Italy in the town of Taranto. She had a passion for painting from her early teens.  Her ability was recognized with success at school art shows.  Prevented by circumstances from following an education at art institute, she pursued a career in business for many years, initially in Italy and after moving to in England in 1988.  


She moved to Cayman in 2000 with her husband Steve and their two sons.  The easier pace of life of the island gave her time and space to dedicate herself to painting and to develop as an artist. She has attended numerous workshops on island and abroad at the Academy of Realist Art in Toronto where she has learned the realistic technique of the Masters.


Dora’s inspiration from the renaissance masters is reflected in her work depicting the human body. She has also been inspired by the works of Georgia O’ Keeffe and her ability to evoke feelings through the images of flowers.


Her latest paintings are inspired by the experience of living on the island of Grand Cayman.


Dora has volunteered and chaired  the board of the Visual Arts Society of the Cayman Islands, until April 2010.
